Hi I’m Davina and I am the owner of Stylist to the Dogs
Davina Dewar was a contestant on Channel 7’s Pooch Perfect Series 1 in 2020.
I have my Cert III in Pet Grooming and Cert IV in Pet Styling. I have been a groomer since 2008 and have always had my own grooming business. I have won multiple grooming competition placings and my passion is creative grooming.
My favourite breed to groom is a Bichon Frise. I love grooming Bichons because they are a full scissor cut and I love how the grooming style accentuates this breed’s profile. Really, I just love how they look like cute fluffy clouds after their groom!
I became a dog groomer because I loved the creative side of it. I was always going to work with animals (specifically dogs) and I just fell in love with grooming once I tried it. There is always so much to learn and I love the challenge that grooming can be. I also love being able to be with dogs all day!
My favourite part about being a dog groomer is the joy you get daily from being around dogs. I love making them look and feel better, and I especially love being creative with their grooms!
I look forward to meeting you and your furry kids soon!''

Hi, I’m Lisa
I am a senior stylist at Stylist to the Dogs. I am also the senior cat groomer!
I have been a groomer for about 25 years, with a couple of breaks to have my 2 girls. I am an IPG Certified professional groomer and have my certificate in kennel and cattery practices.
I did my initial grooming training in Cleveland Brisbane at All Breeds Professional grooming school with Janet McGregor and I have worked in many different grooming salons over my career including vet practices, petbarn, and my own home salon for a small time.
I love grooming poodles of all sizes because they have the best coats to shape and so many different styles to choose from. But my favourite breed is a shih tzu because they are funny and have a great attitude to life!
I love being a groomer because everyday is different and I get to see my furry friends grow from puppies to confident dogs. I especially love working with dogs that have had bad grooming experiences in the past to help them learn grooming is okay and not scary.
Most of all I love passing on my knowledge to the new generation of groomers and that's why I love working with the team at Stylist to the Dogs.
Hi, I’m Jess
I have been part of the Stylist to the Dogs team since 2021, starting my journey as a bather before moving into a grooming traineeship. I completed my Certificate III in Animal Care Services and Certificate III in Pet Grooming, and I am now a fully qualified groomer.
Over the years, I’ve discovered a real passion for grooming curly-coated breeds — especially poodles and poodle mixes like Cavoodles — because their coats allow for beautifully clean lines and precise shaping. I love their sweet nature and the bond that builds through regular grooming.
What I enjoy most about my role is forming relationships with the pets in my care and continuing to learn new techniques and knowledge as the industry evolves.
I am now the Manager at Stylist to the Dogs, and I love supporting our clients, discussing their pets’ grooming needs, and ensuring every pet has a safe, comfortable, and happy experience in our salon.
Hi, I’m Jag
I joined Stylist to the Dogs in 2023 and have since completed my grooming traineeship, becoming a fully qualified groomer. Before starting my traineeship, I spent six months volunteering — bathing, drying, and observing grooming techniques — which helped me develop a strong foundation and a love for the industry.
One of my favourite breeds to groom is the Maltese. There are so many different styles their owners request, and each groom feels fun, unique, and creative.
Originally, I planned to become a vet nurse, and while waiting to start the course I looked for experience in the animal industry. That’s when I discovered grooming — and I quickly fell in love with it, choosing this path instead.
I really enjoy seeing the same pets every few weeks and building strong relationships with them. Watching pets grow comfortable with grooming and excited to see us always puts a smile on my face.
Hi, I’m Danita
I recently completed my grooming traineeship with Stylist to the Dogs and am now a fully qualified groomer. I also specialise in hand stripping, which has become one of my favourite skill sets to offer in the salon.
Before grooming, I worked in hospitality, but after wanting a career that involved animals, I decided to make the switch and began my Cert III in Pet Grooming. It turned out to be the perfect fit — combining my love for animals with the creative, artistic side of grooming.
I especially love grooming Standard Poodles. They have such gentle natures and endless style options, which makes every groom fun and creative. I’ve always been drawn to the clean, structured look of Schnauzers and Airedales too, and I’m excited every time I get to work on those breeds.
One of my favourite parts of the job is watching puppies and nervous pets grow into more confident, relaxed dogs over time. And of course, seeing my favourite regulars always brightens my day. I also love coming to work with such funny, kind-hearted people who make every day enjoyable.
Hi I’m Kai
I’ve been part of the Stylist to the Dogs team since 2022, starting out as a bather before beginning my grooming traineeship. I’m now working full-time in the salon and absolutely love it. Grooming is the career I want long-term, and I feel really lucky to be learning and growing here every day.
My favourite breed is the German Shepherd — I’ve always had a soft spot for the big dogs. Even though I’m on the smaller side, I’m very calm and confident with them, and they tend to relax with me. I especially enjoy working with pets who need a little extra patience or reassurance. Helping them feel safe and understood is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
I’ve always known I wanted to work with animals, and the more I’ve learned, the more I’ve fallen in love with grooming. I enjoy the whole process — from getting to know each pet’s personality to building trust with them over time. I also love the people I work with; the team makes every day fun and supportive.
Seeing the dogs I care for grow comfortable, happy, and excited to visit us is what keeps me inspired. This is definitely where I’m meant to be.
Hi, I’m Devan
I have completed my grooming traineeship at Stylist to the Dogs and now have all the skills I need to step confidently into life as a fully qualified groomer. Working under the guidance of the amazing stylists here has shaped me into the groomer I am today, and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come.
I genuinely love grooming any pet that walks through the door. Whether it’s a big floofy teddy bear or a tiny sassy pocket rocket, I enjoy bringing out each pet’s personality through their groom. Teddy-style grooms are my absolute favourite — there’s something so adorable about crafting that soft, rounded, plush look.
I’ve always had a calming, friendly nature, and it helps me connect with the pets I work with. And yes, I’m also the salon’s resident funny, witty one — I love making the team and clients laugh. My own sassy Shih Tzu, Rocky, was actually a client here before I joined the team, and now he runs the salon (in his mind, anyway).
One of the best parts of my job is the team I get to work with every day. The vibe, the support, and the genuine friendships make coming to work something I look forward to. I absolutely love being a dog groomer, and I can’t wait to continue growing in the industry.
Hi, I’m Zoe
I’m currently completing my grooming traineeship with Stylist to the Dogs.
I grew up around dogs thanks to my mum working professionally with them for many years, so being around animals has always felt completely natural to me. Choosing grooming as a career was an easy decision because it lets me combine my love for dogs with a hands-on, creative job where I’m always learning.
I have lots of favourite breeds, but my top three are Rough Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs and Greyhounds. I love how gentle, sweet and beautiful they all are, and I’d happily own any one of them! One of the best parts of starting this career has been meeting so many different breeds and learning about their personalities.
So far, my favourite part of the job is seeing the transformations dogs can have, even from just a small tidy-up. It’s really rewarding watching them leave looking fresh, comfortable and happy, and building trust with them during the groom.
During my traineeship, I’m especially looking forward to learning traditional breed-style grooms. I’m excited to develop my skills working on styles for breeds like Standard Poodles and Bedlington Terriers while continuing to build my confidence and technique as a groomer.
Hi I’m Ebony
I’m currently completing a dog grooming traineeship with Stylist to the Dogs.
I chose dog grooming as my career path because I’ve always had a strong passion for working with animals. I wanted a hands-on role where I could contribute to their wellbeing and comfort while developing practical skills, and grooming allows me to combine my love for animals with meaningful work that helps keep them healthy and happy.
My favourite breed is the Border Collie. I find them incredibly beautiful, but I also really admire how intelligent, loyal and eager to please they are. Their strong work ethic and close bond with their owners really stand out to me, and I love how responsive and trainable they can be.
So far, my favourite part of the job has been meeting and working with so many different dogs. Every dog has its own personality and needs, which makes each day interesting and rewarding. I enjoy learning how to handle different temperaments and building trust with every dog I work with.
During my traineeship, I’m most looking forward to becoming fully qualified and confident in my skills. I’m excited to reach a point where I can work independently to the same standard as experienced groomers, while continuing to learn and grow within the industry.
